Job Overview
FAO Sudan is seeking a dedicated Sustainable Agriculture Extension Officer to lead outreach programs in Kassala. This role is critical in bridging the gap between scientific agricultural research and rural farming communities. The successful candidate will work directly with farmers to promote sustainable practices, improve crop yields, and ensure long-term food security in the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field visits to assess agricultural practices and provide technical guidance.
- Design and deliver training programs on sustainable farming techniques, including crop rotation and soil conservation.
- Collaborate with local cooperatives to distribute high-quality seeds and agricultural inputs.
- Monitor and report on the impact of agricultural interventions on productivity and environmental sustainability.
- Facilitate knowledge exchange between farmers and agricultural experts.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in agricultural extension services or rural development.
- Strong understanding of sustainable farming practices and climate-smart agriculture.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for community engagement.
- Ability to work in remote rural areas with limited infrastructure.

Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, or a related field.

- Previous work in Sudan’s agricultural sector is highly desirable.
Salary
500,000 – 700,000 Sudanese Pounds (SSP) per month, commensurate with experience.
