Job Overview
The Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Coordinator will be responsible for implementing and monitoring HSE policies, procedures and programs at Shell’s Shendi operations. You will work closely with site managers, contractors and local authorities to ensure compliance with national regulations and Shell’s global standards. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and review HSE policies and procedures specific to oil & gas operations.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are taken.
- Lead incident investigations, root‑cause analyses and reporting in line with Shell’s incident management framework.
- Coordinate emergency response planning, drills and training for all personnel on site.
- Maintain up‑to‑date HSE documentation, permits and regulatory filings required by Sudanese authorities.
- Collaborate with contractors to ensure their HSE compliance and provide guidance on best practices.
- Prepare monthly HSE performance reports and present findings to senior management.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through toolbox talks, safety campaigns and employee engagement activities.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of Sudanese HSE regulations and international standards such as ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a focus on risk mitigation.
- Effective communication skills in English and Arabic, both written and verbal.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience with incident investigation tools and root‑cause analysis techniques.
- Proficiency in HSE management software and Microsoft Office suite.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH or CSP are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of five (5) years of hands‑on HSE coordination experience within the oil & gas sector, preferably in a similar operational environment. Experience working in Sudan or other African markets is advantageous.
Salary
The successful candidate will receive a competitive monthly salary ranging from SSP 150,000 to SSP 250,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary is paid in Sudanese Pounds (SSP) and includes statutory benefits.
