Job Overview
The Downstream Operations Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of refinery and petrochemical processes, ensuring optimal production output, safety compliance, and environmental standards. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control daily refinery operations to achieve production targets while maintaining safety and environmental standards.
- Analyze process data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost reductions.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to schedule and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for downstream processes.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, industry standards, and TotalEnergies Group policies.
- Participate in incident investigations and root‑cause analyses, recommending corrective actions.
- Support the preparation of operational reports and present findings to senior management.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of refinery processes, including distillation, cracking, and treating units.
- Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, PRO/II).
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and make decisions in real‑time.
- Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field is required. Advanced certifications in process safety or operational excellence are considered an advantage.
Experience
Applicants must have at least five years of hands‑on experience in downstream oil & gas operations, preferably within a refinery or petrochemical environment. Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma is highly valued.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 150,000 to SSP 250,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based incentives and allowances aligned with TotalEnergies Sudan’s remuneration framework.
