Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Hydrological Modeler to join our technical team in Blue Nile. This role is critical for our upcoming large-scale water security projects. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain complex mathematical models to simulate hydrological processes in the Blue Nile basin.
- Analyze historical rainfall and river flow data to predict future water availability scenarios.
- Collaborate with environmental engineers to design sustainable water infrastructure based on modeling outputs.
- Conduct field assessments to validate model accuracy against real-world groundwater levels.
- Prepare technical reports for stakeholders and government agencies regarding water security risks.
- Provide technical guidance to junior hydrologists and field technicians.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in hydrological modeling software such as HEC-RAS, MODFLOW, or SWAT.
- Strong expertise in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and spatial data analysis.
- Exceptional mathematical and statistical modeling capabilities.
- Deep understanding of Sudanese hydrological patterns and seasonal variations.
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills in English and Arabic.
Education
A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Hydrology, Water Resources Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field is required. A PhD in a specialized hydrological field is highly preferred.
Experience
Candidates must possess at least 7 years of professional experience in hydrological modeling, preferably within an international development or large-scale engineering context. Proven experience working in East Africa or similar semi-arid environments is a significant advantage. This is a high-level role requiring significant autonomy and technical leadership.
Salary
The monthly salary for this position ranges from 850,000 SSP to 1,200,000 SSP, depending on the candidate’s specific expertise and technical certifications. This package is competitive within the local employment in Sudan market.
