Job Overview
The Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) will lead TotalEnergies Sudan’s sustainability agenda, integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations into all business operations. Reporting directly to the Country Managing Director, the CSO will develop and execute a comprehensive sustainability strategy that aligns with global standards and local regulations. The role involves close collaboration with senior leadership, operational teams, government agencies, and external stakeholders to ensure that sustainability initiatives drive both environmental impact reduction and business value creation. This position is central to enhancing TotalEnergies Sudan’s reputation as a responsible energy leader and supports the company’s ambition to become carbon neutral by 2050.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and monitor a holistic sustainability strategy covering carbon management, renewable energy integration, and community development.
- Lead ESG reporting, ensuring compliance with international frameworks such as GRI, SASB, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
- Collaborate with the Operations, Finance, and Legal departments to embed sustainability metrics into project planning and performance evaluation.
- Engage with government ministries, NGOs, and local communities to foster partnerships that advance sustainable development goals.
- Oversee the development of sustainability KPIs, dashboards, and internal communication tools to track progress and drive continuous improvement.
- Represent TotalEnergies Sudan at industry conferences, stakeholder forums, and media engagements to promote the company’s sustainability achievements.
- Mentor and develop a cross‑functional sustainability team, building internal capacity for long‑term ESG excellence.
Required Skills
- Strategic thinking with proven ability to translate sustainability concepts into actionable business plans.
- Deep knowledge of renewable energy technologies, carbon accounting, and ESG reporting standards.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong analytical abilities to assess environmental impact, risk, and financial implications.
- Leadership experience in multicultural environments, with a track record of building high‑performing teams.
- Fluency in English; Arabic proficiency is highly desirable.
Education
A Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Renewable Energy Engineering, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as LEED, ISO 14001 Lead Auditor, or ESG Analyst credentials are considered advantageous.

The ideal candidate will have at least ten years of progressive experience in sustainability leadership, preferably within the energy or heavy‑industry sectors. Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 250,000 to SSP 400,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and a retirement savings plan.
