Job Overview
This role involves leading the digitization of historical artifacts, manuscripts, and cultural records while developing innovative digital preservation strategies. The position is ideal for a professional passionate about merging cultural heritage with cutting-edge technology to create accessible, interactive archives.
Key Responsibilities
- Digitize and catalog historical artifacts, photographs, and documents using industry-standard software.
- Develop metadata frameworks for digital collections to ensure searchability and long-term preservation.
- Collaborate with curators and historians to authenticate and contextualize digital records.
- Design interactive digital exhibits for online and on-site audiences.
- Implement cybersecurity protocols to protect sensitive cultural data.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in digital archiving tools (e.g., Archivists’ Toolkit, CollectiveAccess).
- Experience with 3D modeling and photogrammetry for artifact documentation.
- Strong project management skills for multi-disciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of international digital preservation standards (e.g., ISO 14721).
- Fluency in both Arabic and English for documentation and outreach.
Education
Candidates must hold a Master’s Degree in Digital Archiving, Museum Studies, or a related field. Additional certifications in cultural heritage management or digital preservation are highly advantageous.
Experience
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in digital archiving, preferably within a museum or cultural institution. Experience managing large-scale digitization projects is essential.
Salary
500,000 – 700,000 Sudanese Pounds (SSP) per year, commensurate with experience.
