Job Overview

The Geoscientist will play a pivotal role in the Exploration & Production department, leading geological and geophysical studies that inform drilling decisions and field development plans. Reporting to the Chief Geoscientist, the incumbent will collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and field operators to integrate seismic data, well logs, and reservoir models into comprehensive geological interpretations. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct seismic interpretation, structural mapping, and stratigraphic analysis to identify hydrocarbon prospects.
  • Develop and update 3D geological models using industry‑standard software.
  • Collaborate with drilling engineers to design optimal well trajectories and evaluate drilling risks.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and data packages for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead field data acquisition campaigns, including core sampling and well logging.
  • Mentor and train junior geoscientists, fostering knowledge transfer and skill development.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards throughout all geoscientific activities.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in seismic interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom).
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting complex data to multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work in remote field locations and adapt to challenging environments.
  • Knowledge of Sudanese geological settings and regulatory frameworks is a plus.

Education

A Master’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, Earth Sciences, or a closely related field is required. Candidates with a Ph.D. are highly regarded, especially those with research experience in sedimentary basins or petroleum systems.

Experience

Minimum of five years of professional experience in oil and gas exploration, with a proven track record of delivering geological interpretations that have led to successful drilling outcomes. Experience in the African or Middle Eastern regions is advantageous.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of 150,000 to 250,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and allowances are also part of the compensation package.
