Job Overview

The Hydro Power Project Engineer will lead the technical design, implementation, and commissioning of hydroelectric facilities in the Wadi Halfa region. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, local authorities, and international partners to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering design of hydro turbines, penstocks, and civil structures, ensuring compliance with international standards.
  • Coordinate feasibility studies, hydrological assessments, and environmental impact analyses.
  • Develop detailed project schedules, cost estimates, and risk mitigation plans.
  • Manage procurement of critical equipment and oversee vendor negotiations.
  • Supervise on‑site construction activities, providing technical guidance to contractors and subcontractors.
  • Conduct performance testing, commissioning, and handover of completed hydro facilities.
  • Collaborate with local stakeholders, government agencies, and community representatives to secure permits and maintain positive relations.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and documentation for internal and external review.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental protocols throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in hydro power design software (e.g., HEC‑RAS, AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Excellent project management and leadership skills.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PE) are highly desirable and will be considered an asset.

Experience

Minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in hydroelectric project engineering, including design, construction, and commissioning phases. Prior experience working on large‑scale infrastructure projects in Africa or the Middle East is preferred.

Salary

The competitive salary range for this position is SSP 180,000 to 250,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be offered.
