Job Overview
We are currently seeking a highly skilled Hydrometallurgical Process Engineer to join our technical team in Blue Nile. This role is critical to our mineral processing operations, specifically focusing on the chemical extraction and recovery of gold from ore. The successful candidate will be responsible for optimizing leaching, adsorption, and electrowinning processes to ensure maximum recovery rates. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimize hydrometallurgical processes including cyanidation and resin-in-leach systems.
- Monitor and analyze chemical reagent consumption to ensure cost-effective and efficient operations.
- Conduct detailed mass and water balance calculations to maintain process stability.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for process deviations in the leaching and recovery circuits.
- Collaborate with the laboratory team to interpret assay results and adjust process parameters accordingly.
- Ensure all chemical handling and processing activities comply with international environmental and safety standards.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the hydrometallurgical plant.
Required Skills
- Advanced knowledge of chemical kinetics and thermodynamics related to gold extraction.
- Proficiency in metallurgical modeling software and process simulation tools.
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex chemical data and sensor readings.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities in a high-pressure industrial environment.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate between technical and operational teams.
- In-depth understanding of environmental regulations regarding chemical waste management.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a closely related field is mandatory. A Master’s degree in Mineral Processing or Hydrometallurgy is highly preferred and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 to 7 years of direct experience in hydrometallurgical plant operations, preferably within a large-scale gold mining facility. Proven experience in optimizing leaching circuits and managing reagent chemistry is essential for success in this role. Salary
