The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is seeking a skilled Protection Assistant to support community-based protection interventions, referral services, protection monitoring, and awareness activities for vulnerable populations affected by displacement and humanitarian emergencies in Sudan. DRC has extensive protection operations in Sudan and regularly recruits Protection Assistants for protection programming.
Job Summary
The Protection Assistant will work closely with Protection Officers and community stakeholders to identify protection risks, facilitate referrals, conduct awareness sessions, support case documentation, and strengthen community engagement mechanisms. The position requires strong interpersonal skills, confidentiality, and commitment to humanitarian principles.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct protection monitoring activities in targeted communities.
- Identify vulnerable individuals requiring protection support.
- Assist in referrals for legal, psychosocial, health, and livelihood services.
- Facilitate community awareness sessions on protection rights and available services.
- Support implementation of gender-sensitive and child protection activities.
- Maintain confidential case documentation and records.
- Collect field data and prepare activity reports.
- Assist in community consultations and focus group discussions.
- Monitor protection trends and report emerging risks.
- Coordinate with local authorities, NGOs, and community leaders.
- Support protection assessments and emergency response activities.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding and protection principles.
- Participate in capacity-building workshops and staff training programs.
- Contribute to project monitoring and evaluation activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, Psychology, Law, International Relations, or related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in humanitarian or community development projects.
- Strong understanding of protection principles and referral pathways.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
- Knowledge of community engagement methodologies.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Fluency in English and Arabic preferred.
