Job Overview

The Senior Mining Safety Inspector will play a critical role in ensuring that all mining operations within our Blue Nile site adhere to the highest international safety and environmental standards. This position is vital for maintaining a zero-harm culture across our extraction, processing, and logistics sites. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting comprehensive audits, identifying potential hazards, and implementing corrective actions to mitigate risks associated with heavy machinery, explosives, and underground/open-pit operations. This is a high-visibility role that requires a deep understanding of mining regulations and the ability to lead safety training programs for large, diverse teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular, detailed safety inspections of all mining sites, equipment, and processing facilities to ensure compliance with national and international regulations.
• Develop and implement comprehensive risk assessment protocols for high-risk activities including blasting and heavy machinery operation.
• Lead incident investigations to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
• Collaborate with site managers to integrate safety protocols into daily operational workflows.
• Monitor environmental compliance to ensure mining activities do not negatively impact the local ecosystem.
• Prepare detailed safety reports and present findings to the regional management team.

Required Skills

• Advanced knowledge of international mining safety standards (ISO 45001) and local Sudanese mining laws.
• Expertise in conducting thorough hazard identification and risk assessments (HIRA).
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence safety culture at all levels of the organization.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex safety challenges.
• Proficiency in technical reporting and data-driven safety management systems.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related engineering discipline is mandatory. Professional certifications in Mine Safety or Environmental Management are highly preferred.

Experience

Candidates must possess a minimum of 7 years of experience in safety inspection or occupational health within a large-scale mining or heavy industrial environment. Proven experience in managing safety protocols in remote locations is essential.

Salary

The monthly salary for this position ranges from 850,000 SSP to 1,200,000 SSP, depending on experience and technical qualifications.
