Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Petroleum Geophysicist to lead our subsurface imaging and seismic interpretation efforts. This role is critical to our exploration success in Sudan, as you will be responsible for interpreting complex seismic data to identify potential hydrocarbon reservoirs. You will work closely with geologists and reservoir engineers to build accurate geological models that guide our drilling programs. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the acquisition, processing, and interpretation of 2D and 3D seismic data sets.
- Develop and validate complex geological and geophysical models to predict reservoir characteristics.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to mitigate exploration risks and optimize well placement.
- Supervise junior geophysicists and provide technical mentorship within the exploration department.
- Integrate various datasets, including well logs and gravity/magnetic data, into a cohesive subsurface model.
- Ensure all geophysical activities comply with international safety and environmental standards.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in seismic interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, Landmark, or similar).
- Deep understanding of signal processing and seismic wave propagation.
- Strong mathematical and statistical modeling capabilities.
- Excellent technical report writing and data visualization skills.
- Ability to work effectively in remote field locations and multicultural environments.
Education
A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Geophysics, Earth Sciences, or a closely related field is required. A PhD is highly preferred for this senior-level position. Candidates must demonstrate a strong academic background in seismic stratigraphy and structural geology.
Experience
A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in petroleum geophysics, specifically within oil and gas exploration. Proven track record of successful seismic interpretation in complex sedimentary basins is essential. Experience working in East African or North African geological settings is a significant advantage.
Salary
The monthly salary for this position ranges from 850,000 SSP to 1,200,000 SSP, depending on experience, qualifications, and performance during the probationary period.
