Job Overview
The Supply Chain Procurement Officer will play a critical role in managing our vendor relationships and optimizing the procurement lifecycle within the Atbara region. This role is essential for ensuring that all logistical equipment, services, and operational supplies are acquired cost-effectively and delivered on time. You will be responsible for negotiating contracts, evaluating supplier performance, and implementing strategic sourcing initiatives that align with Maersk’s global standards. Key Responsibilities
- Execute end-to-end procurement processes for logistics services and operational supplies.
- Identify and vet new suppliers to expand the local vendor network while maintaining quality standards.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with vendors to achieve maximum cost savings.
- Monitor and report on supplier performance metrics to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
- Collaborate with the logistics and warehouse teams to forecast demand and prevent stockouts.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with international maritime laws and local Sudanese regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of all purchase orders, contracts, and invoices within the ERP system.
Required Skills
- Advanced negotiation and contract management skills.
- Proficiency in ERP software (such as SAP or Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical skills for cost-benefit analysis and demand forecasting.
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Arabic.
- In-depth knowledge of international shipping and logistics documentation.
- Strong problem-solving abilities in high-pressure environments.
Education
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field is required. Professional certification such as CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) is highly advantageous.
Experience
Candidates must possess at least 5 years of proven experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management, preferably within the logistics or shipping industry. Experience working in the Sudanese market is a significant advantage.
Salary
