Job Overview

The Water Resource Management Specialist will lead the planning, implementation, and optimization of water resource projects in the Shendi region, ensuring compliance with national regulations and international standards. This position involves close collaboration with government agencies, NGOs, and private partners to develop integrated water management strategies that balance supply and demand, protect ecosystems, and enhance community resilience. The specialist will conduct comprehensive water balance analyses, oversee the design of treatment facilities, and monitor performance metrics to drive continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement water resource management plans that align with Veolia’s sustainability goals and Sudanese water policies.
• Conduct detailed water balance studies, demand forecasting, and risk assessments for the Shendi catchment area.
• Design, supervise, and optimize water treatment and distribution infrastructure, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
• Coordinate with local authorities, NGOs, and community groups to promote water conservation and stakeholder participation.
• Prepare technical documentation, feasibility studies, and grant proposals to secure project financing.
• Monitor and report on key performance indicators, including water quality, system reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Provide training and capacity building for local staff and partners on best practices in water management.

Required Skills

• Strong analytical abilities with expertise in hydrological modeling and water balance calculations.
• Proficiency in GIS, SCADA systems, and water management software.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills for multi‑stakeholder environments.
• Project management experience, including budgeting, scheduling, and risk mitigation.
• Knowledge of Sudanese water regulations, environmental standards, and international best practices.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., CWWA, PMP) are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience

Candidates must have a minimum of five years of relevant experience in water resource planning, water treatment plant design, or utility management. Experience working in Sudan or similar emerging markets, as well as a proven track record of delivering large‑scale water projects, will be valued.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 150,000 to 250,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be provided.
