Job Overview
This role focuses on designing and implementing urban resilience strategies to mitigate climate risks in rapidly growing Sudanese cities. The specialist will collaborate with local governments, NGOs, and communities to integrate climate adaptation into urban planning frameworks. The position is ideal for professionals passionate about sustainable development and climate action in emerging markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop climate risk assessments and adaptation plans for urban infrastructure in Shendi.
- Design sustainable drainage systems and heat mitigation strategies for urban areas.
- Collaborate with municipal authorities to update zoning regulations for flood and drought resilience.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of urban resilience projects using GIS and data analytics tools.

Required Skills
- Proven expertise in climate adaptation planning and urban resilience frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of Sudan’s environmental challenges and regional climate patterns.

- Excellent stakeholder engagement and cross-cultural communication skills.
- Experience with international sustainability standards (e.g., UN Sustainable Development Goals).
Education
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline. A professional certification in Climate Resilience Planning (e.g., CCRP) is highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in urban resilience, climate adaptation, or sustainable infrastructure projects. Prior work in Sub-Saharan Africa or the Middle East is a significant advantage.
Salary
500,000 – 800,000 Sudanese Pounds (SSP) per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
