Job Overview

The Curriculum Development Specialist will lead the design, adaptation and evaluation of secondary school curricula that meet both national standards and international benchmarks. Working closely with teachers, subject experts and policy makers, you will ensure that learning materials are culturally relevant, pedagogically sound and aligned with the British Council’s mission to improve education outcomes across Sudan. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive needs analyses to identify gaps in existing curricula.
• Design and develop curriculum frameworks, lesson plans and assessment tools for subjects such as Mathematics, Science, English and Social Studies.
• Collaborate with local education authorities to ensure alignment with Sudan’s Ministry of Education guidelines.
• Integrate digital learning resources and innovative pedagogical approaches.
• Pilot new curricula in selected schools, gather feedback, and refine materials accordingly.
• Provide training workshops and continuous support for teachers implementing the new curricula.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of curriculum interventions on student performance.
• Prepare detailed reports and present findings to senior management and stakeholders.

Required Skills

• Strong expertise in curriculum design, instructional design and assessment strategies.
• Excellent knowledge of Sudan’s education system and national standards.
• Proficiency in English and Arabic, both written and spoken.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, NGOs and school staff.
• Project management skills with a track record of delivering results on time and within budget.
• Analytical mindset with experience in data‑driven decision making.
• Familiarity with digital education platforms and e‑learning tools.

Education

A Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum Studies, Educational Technology or a closely related discipline is required. Candidates with additional certifications in instructional design or project management will be given preference.

Experience

Minimum of five years’ experience in curriculum development for secondary education, preferably within an international or NGO context. Experience working in Sudan or similar emerging markets is highly desirable.

Salary

The successful candidate will receive a competitive monthly salary ranging from SSP 150,000 to SSP 250,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes statutory benefits and performance‑based incentives.
