Job Overview

The Curriculum Development Specialist will lead the design, development and evaluation of high‑quality learning programmes for the British Council’s education portfolio in Sudan. Working closely with subject‑matter experts, teachers and partner organisations, you will create curriculum frameworks that align with international standards and local educational needs. Key Responsibilities

• Research and analyse national curriculum guidelines, international best practices and learner needs to inform curriculum design.
• Develop comprehensive curriculum frameworks, lesson plans, assessment tools and instructional resources for a range of subjects and age groups.
• Collaborate with local teachers, educational institutions and NGOs to pilot and refine curriculum materials.
• Conduct training workshops and webinars for educators on curriculum implementation and pedagogical strategies.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of curricula through feedback, data analysis and impact assessments.
• Maintain up‑to‑date documentation and ensure all materials comply with British Council quality standards.
• Provide technical support and guidance to project teams during curriculum rollout across Sudan.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of curriculum design methodologies and instructional design principles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Arabic proficiency is an advantage.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Curriculum Studies or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CELTA, TESOL) is highly desirable and will be considered an asset.

Experience

Applicants should have at least three years of hands‑on experience in curriculum development, instructional design or educational programme management. Experience working in Sudan or similar contexts, as well as familiarity with the Sudanese education system, will be valued.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 150,000 to SSP 250,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional allowances may be provided in line with British Council policies.
