Job Overview
This role focuses on optimizing agricultural value chains to improve productivity, reduce post-harvest losses, and enhance market access for smallholder farmers in Gedaref State. The specialist will work closely with Cargill’s regional teams, local stakeholders, and international partners to implement data-driven strategies that align with national food security goals and climate resilience initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct end-to-end analysis of agricultural value chains for crops such as sorghum, sesame, and cotton.
- Design and implement interventions to improve storage, transportation, and processing efficiency.
- Collaborate with farmers’ cooperatives to adopt best practices in sustainable farming and resource management.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of value chain interventions on productivity and income generation.
- Develop reports and presentations for internal stakeholders and external partners, including donor organizations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in agricultural supply chain optimization or rural development projects.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in tools like Excel, Tableau, or Power BI.
- Knowledge of Sudan’s agricultural policies and regional market dynamics.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and cross-cultural communication abilities.
- Ability to work in remote field locations with limited infrastructure.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Economics, Supply Chain Management, or related field. Advanced degrees (Master’s) in Agribusiness or Rural Development are a plus.
Experience
3-5 years of professional experience in agribusiness, supply chain management, or international development projects. Prior experience in Sudan or neighboring East African countries is preferred.
Salary
150,000 – 250,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
