Job Overview

The Banking Compliance Officer will lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of compliance programs that ensure the bank adheres to local and international regulations, including anti‑money laundering (AML), counter‑terrorist financing (CTF), and know‑your‑customer (KYC) requirements. Reporting to the Head of Compliance, the officer will work closely with business units, risk management, legal, and audit teams to identify compliance risks, design mitigation strategies, and foster a culture of ethical conduct. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update the bank’s AML, KYC, and CTF policies in line with Sudanese Central Bank regulations and international standards.
  • Conduct regular compliance risk assessments and provide actionable recommendations to senior management.
  • Perform transaction monitoring, suspicious activity reporting, and case investigations with thorough documentation.
  • Deliver compliance training programs for staff across all levels, ensuring awareness of regulatory obligations.
  • Collaborate with internal audit and external regulators during examinations and audits.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of regulatory changes and assess their impact on bank operations.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory filings, reports, and disclosures within stipulated deadlines.
  • Support the implementation of technology solutions for compliance monitoring and reporting.

Required Skills

  • Deep understanding of Sudanese banking regulations, AML/CTF frameworks, and international compliance standards (e.g., FATF, Basel III).
  • Strong analytical and investigative abilities with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic.
  • Proficiency in compliance software and data analysis tools.

Education

The successful candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Law, Business Administration, or a related discipline. Professional certifications such as Certified Anti‑Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP) are highly desirable.

Experience

A minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in banking compliance, AML, or risk management within a financial institution is required. Prior experience in a multinational bank operating in emerging markets will be considered an advantage.

Salary
