Job Overview

The Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of HSE policies and programs across Schlumberger’s operations in Shendi. The role ensures compliance with local regulations, international standards, and company guidelines, fostering a culture of zero incidents and environmental stewardship. The manager will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, provide strategic guidance, and act as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies, clients, and internal stakeholders. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and enforce HSE policies, procedures, and risk assessments aligned with Sudanese regulations and Schlumberger’s global standards.
• Lead incident investigations, root‑cause analyses, and corrective action implementation to prevent recurrence.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety drills, ensuring compliance and identifying improvement opportunities.
• Provide HSE training and mentorship to field personnel, supervisors, and contractors, promoting a proactive safety culture.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and project management teams to integrate HSE considerations into project planning and execution.
• Prepare and present HSE performance reports, dashboards, and metrics to senior management and external regulators.
• Manage emergency response plans, coordinate with local authorities, and oversee crisis communication.
• Drive sustainability initiatives, including waste reduction, emissions monitoring, and community outreach programs.

Required Skills

• In‑depth knowledge of Sudanese HSE legislation and international standards such as ISO 45001, OHSAS 18001, and API guidelines.
• Proven leadership and influencing skills with the ability to drive cultural change.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, capable of interpreting complex data and translating it into actionable plans.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, in English; Arabic proficiency is an advantage.
• Experience with incident management software and HSE reporting tools.
• Ability to work in remote field environments and manage multi‑disciplinary teams.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Safety Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), NEBOSH, or IOSH are highly desirable and will be considered an asset.

Experience

Minimum of eight years of progressive HSE experience within the oil & gas industry, with at least three years in a managerial or supervisory capacity. Demonstrated success in leading large‑scale projects, managing regulatory compliance, and delivering measurable safety improvements is essential.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from SSP 150,000 to SSP 250,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and a comprehensive expatriate benefits scheme where applicable.
