Job Overview
This role is part of IFAD’s mission to advance sustainable agriculture in Sudan. The Sustainable Agriculture Project Coordinator will lead initiatives to implement climate-smart farming techniques, coordinate with local stakeholders, and ensure project alignment with national development goals. The position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to rural transformation and environmental sustainability in one of Sudan’s key agricultural regions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement sustainable agriculture projects focused on crop diversification and soil conservation
- Collaborate with local farmers, cooperatives, and government agencies to scale best practices
- Monitor project impact on food security, income generation, and environmental outcomes
- Prepare technical reports, budgets, and progress updates for donors and stakeholders
- Organize training sessions on sustainable farming methods and resource management
- Ensure compliance with IFAD’s environmental and social safeguard policies
Required Skills
- Proven experience in agricultural project management in Sub-Saharan Africa
- Strong understanding of sustainable land use practices and climate adaptation strategies
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and cross-cultural communication skills
- Proficiency in data collection tools (e.g., GIS, MS Access) for project monitoring
- Ability to work in remote rural environments with limited infrastructure
- Fluency in Arabic and English
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Rural Development, or related field
- Master’s Degree preferred but not required
Experience
- Minimum 3 years managing agricultural development projects in Sudan or neighboring countries
- Experience with USAID, EU, or UN donor-funded programs is an advantage
Salary
120,000 – 180,000 Sudanese Pounds (SSP) per month, commensurate with experience.
