Job Overview

This role is part of Veolia’s initiative to expand water and sanitation access in rural Sudan. The Water and Sanitation Project Manager will lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of community-based water supply and hygiene improvement programs in El Geneina. The position requires collaboration with local stakeholders, technical experts, and funding partners to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute water and sanitation infrastructure projects, including borehole drilling, pipeline installation, and community latrine construction.
  • Coordinate with local governments, NGOs, and community leaders to identify project needs and secure stakeholder buy-in.
  • Monitor project timelines, budgets, and quality standards to ensure compliance with international best practices.
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess progress, address challenges, and provide technical guidance to field teams.
  • Prepare detailed project reports for internal review and donor reporting requirements.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in water resource management or public health project delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and sanitation standards in Sudan.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
  • Ability to work in remote, low-resource environments with limited supervision.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Water Resource Management, Public Health, or related field.
  • Master’s Degree preferred but not required.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in water and sanitation project management, with a focus on Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Previous experience working with international NGOs or multilateral donors (e.g., UNICEF, World Bank) is an advantage.

Salary

150,000 – 250,000 Sudanese Pounds (SSP) per month, depending on experience and qualifications.
