Job Overview

This role is part of WWF Sudan’s initiative to safeguard the Red Sea’s unique biodiversity. The Biodiversity Conservation Officer will lead field research, coordinate with local communities, and implement conservation strategies to protect marine and coastal ecosystems. The position requires collaboration with government agencies, NGOs, and international partners to ensure long-term environmental sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct field surveys to monitor biodiversity and assess ecosystem health.
  • Design and implement conservation programs for marine and coastal habitats.
  • Collaborate with local communities to promote sustainable fishing and eco-tourism practices.

  • Coordinate with law enforcement to combat illegal fishing and wildlife trafficking.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in biodiversity conservation or environmental management.
  • Strong knowledge of Sudanese ecosystems and Red Sea marine life.
  • Excellent project management and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Proficiency in GIS mapping and data analysis tools.
  • Ability to work in remote field conditions with limited resources.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Marine Biology, or related field.
  • Advanced degree (Master’s) preferred but not mandatory.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years in conservation projects, preferably in coastal or marine environments.
  • Experience working with NGOs or government environmental agencies.

Salary

500,000 – 700,000 Sudanese Pounds (SSP) annually, based on qualifications and experience.
