Job Overview
The Process Development Engineer will join the Research & Development department to design, optimize, and scale chemical processes that meet BASF’s high standards for efficiency, safety, and sustainability. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize chemical processes from pilot to full‑scale production, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Conduct experimental design, data analysis, and process simulations to improve yield, purity, and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with R&D scientists to translate laboratory findings into scalable manufacturing protocols.
- Prepare technical documentation, process specifications, and standard operating procedures for new and existing products.
- Support troubleshooting activities on the shop floor, providing technical expertise to resolve process deviations.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, applying Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance operational performance.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of chemical engineering principles, reaction engineering, and process control.
- Proficiency in process simulation software such as Aspen HYSYS or CHEMCAD.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven mindset.
- Effective communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration and documentation.
- Ability to work safely in a laboratory and industrial environment, adhering to strict SOPs.
- Fluency in English; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field is required. Advanced degrees (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in process engineering, catalysis, or materials science are highly desirable and will be considered an asset during the selection process.
Experience

Salary
