Job Overview
The Solar Project Development Manager will lead the end‑to‑end development of utility‑scale solar projects in the Port Sudan region. This role involves feasibility studies, stakeholder engagement, permitting, financing coordination, and overseeing construction and commissioning phases. The manager will work closely with cross‑functional teams, local authorities, and international partners to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct site assessments and feasibility analyses for solar farm locations.
- Develop detailed project plans, budgets, and timelines.
- Secure permits, land rights, and regulatory approvals in collaboration with government agencies.
- Coordinate financing structures with investors, banks, and development agencies.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams including engineering, procurement, construction, and legal.
- Monitor project progress, manage risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Report project status to senior management and stakeholders regularly.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of solar PV technology, grid integration, and renewable energy markets.
- Proven project management experience in large‑scale infrastructure projects.
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
- Fluent in English; Arabic proficiency is an advantage.
- Analytical mindset with proficiency in financial modeling and cost analysis.
- Ability to work in multicultural environments and adapt to local contexts.
- Solid understanding of Sudanese regulatory frameworks for energy projects.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Renewable Energy Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., PMP, CEMP) are highly desirable and will be considered an asset during the selection process.
Experience
Applicants must have 5‑7 years of hands‑on experience in solar project development, including at least three years in a leadership or managerial capacity. Experience working on projects in Africa or the Middle East, and familiarity with local permitting processes, will be viewed favorably.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from 250,000 to 350,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and retirement benefits.
