Job Overview

The Program Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will play a pivotal role in tracking, assessing and reporting on the performance of UNDP’s development programmes in the Western Darfur region. You will be responsible for designing monitoring frameworks, collecting and analysing data, and producing evidence‑based reports that inform strategic decisions. The position works closely with project managers, government officials, and local partners to ensure that interventions are effective, efficient and aligned with national priorities. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation (M&E) plans for all assigned programmes.
• Design data collection tools, conduct field surveys and ensure data quality.
• Analyse quantitative and qualitative data to assess programme outcomes and impact.
• Prepare timely M&E reports, dashboards and performance briefs for donors and stakeholders.
• Support project teams in integrating M&E findings into adaptive management processes.
• Facilitate learning workshops and knowledge‑sharing sessions with partners.
• Ensure compliance with UNDP’s M&E standards and donor requirements.
• Contribute to the development of logical frameworks and results‑based management documents.

Required Skills

• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SPSS, Stata, R).
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English; Arabic proficiency is an advantage.
• Experience in designing logical frameworks, theory of change and results‑based management.
• Ability to work independently in remote and challenging environments.
• Strong interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement and capacity building.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple data sources.
• Knowledge of UNDP policies, donor regulations and international development standards.

Education

A Master’s degree in International Development, Public Policy, Economics, Social Sciences, or a related discipline is required. Candidates with additional certifications in Monitoring & Evaluation, Project Management or Data Analysis will be given preference.

Experience

Applicants should have at least three to five years of professional experience in monitoring and evaluation of development programmes, preferably within UN agencies, NGOs or donor‑funded projects. Experience working in Sudan or similar conflict‑affected contexts is highly desirable.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 250,000 to 350,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary is paid in Sudanese Pounds and includes statutory benefits as per UNDP policies.
