Job Overview

The Climate Change Policy Analyst will lead the development, analysis, and advocacy of climate policies that support Sudan’s transition to a low‑carbon, climate‑resilient economy. Working within the Policy & Research department, the analyst will collaborate with government ministries, NGOs, and international partners to design evidence‑based strategies, conduct impact assessments, and monitor implementation of climate‑related projects. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive policy analysis on Sudan’s climate mitigation and adaptation strategies.
• Develop policy briefs, white papers, and technical reports for government and stakeholder review.
• Facilitate multi‑stakeholder workshops to gather input and build consensus on climate actions.
• Monitor and evaluate the implementation of climate‑related projects funded by UNDP and partners.
• Provide technical support for the preparation of national climate plans and contributions to the UNFCCC process.
• Collaborate with research institutions to integrate the latest climate science into policy recommendations.
• Advise senior UNDP officials and government counterparts on emerging climate risks and opportunities.
• Represent UNDP Sudan at national and regional conferences, seminars, and policy dialogues.

Required Skills

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into clear policy advice.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English; Arabic proficiency is an advantage.
• Proficiency in climate modeling tools and GIS is preferred.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement and facilitation.
• Knowledge of international climate frameworks such as the Paris Agreement and SDGs.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Project management experience with a focus on results‑based monitoring.

Education

A Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Climate Change, Public Policy, International Development, or a closely related field is required. Candidates with a Ph.D. or additional certifications in climate policy or sustainable development are highly regarded.

Experience

Minimum of five years of professional experience in climate policy analysis, environmental research, or related sectors. Experience working with government agencies, international donors, or NGOs in Sudan or the broader Horn of Africa region is strongly preferred.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of 250,000 – 400,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, along with UNDP benefits and allowances.
